It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything due to the normal hectic end-of-highschool stuff. Finals, senior pictures, making plans for the future, college or no college etc. Plus some added stress to the normal senior routine which is why this post will seem a little like I’m sleep deprived and halfway insane. (it’s because I am)
Recently, I’ve been more busy with my Tahoe than anything else. It’s been having some trouble with fuel pickup it felt like, and multiple misfires, rough idle, bad compression… the list goes on.. and on… I’ve been working on solving each problem one by one and getting somewhere but not getting anywhere at the same time. I’d fix one thing, think I’m in the clear and then end up finding out that I’ve missed something along the line. It’s really honestly caused me to lose faith in my mechanical skills.
I lost hope and began thinking I’d never find the cause of the problem. All research that I did lead me to things that I’d already either tested or fixed. Clogged cats, bad O2 sensors, bad piston rings.. It was getting pretty depressing and frustrating. However, right when I was about to give up and set the Tahoe on fire and move on with my life and become some boring adult with a boring desk job and hate every day of my life for the rest of forever, I was blessed with wonderful news. My instructor put the scan tool back onto my Tahoe and read every single little thing that came up. It turns out my MAF sensor was reading at a 14-16 range when it should be 3-6.
A FAULTY MAF. I was relieved when I found out that I can replace it and hopefully be done with that Chevrolet.. Now I feel like I can continue my goal of becoming a mechanic and not some boring adult with a boring desk job and hate every day of my life for the rest of forever.
The whole point of telling this horribly illustrated story was to say this; If you’ve got a goal, go for it, and when something jumps up and blocks you, climb over it. If you were determined enough to say, yeah that’s what I want to do, then you’re determined enough to accomplish it. If you want to climb mt. Kilimanjaro, do it. If you want to travel the world with a group of models from Sweden, I’m sure you could find a way. If you want to open a business completely on your own, nothing is stopping you but you. If you can imagine it, you can make it happen. The hardest part is making sure that you don’t lose faith or give up. Pray for it every morning and work at it every day, you’ll get there.
