Donating for a good cause

So, this post will be more of an informational/educational post..

IMG_5010On Friday last week, I donated blood. I weighed enough, my iron levels were great, I felt healthy enough for it, however, my body had a different opinion. I went in, they took my blood, I went back to class to get back to work and I started feeling a little weird. My vision kept going in and out, I was sick at my stomach, my skin felt cold, and I was dizzy as could be. I’m just as stubborn as my mother, so I continued to work and I ended up with serious tunnel vision and decided to stand still for a moment while some buddies of mine talked around me. Then, I fell backwards and hit the wall first, then gently hit the ground since my friend, Trey, caught me. Him and the auto collision teacher slapped me a little and got me woken back up from passing out. I was tired and dizzy and a little sore from hitting my head. So, my friend drove me home. Luckily, I had good buddies and teachers that were there for me to get me home where I could rest and try to get myself back to normal!

While donating blood is a good thing, it isn’t always worth it for your own health. I’m 5’3 and I weigh around 115-120, probably not the best combination when you decide to give away a lot of something that you really need! I advise talking to a doctor before donating blood! It may be well worth the double checking!

Let me know what your thoughts are!
